Author Instructions

Submissions and Paper Specification Information

The organizing committee IEEE INERTIAL invites authors to submit abstracts for presentation at the IEEE INERTIAL. Submitting authors can choose between two options, resulting in a different publication outlet, if the paper is accepted:

OPTION A: Publication in the Proceedings of the IEEE INERTIAL, or

OPTION B: Publication in IEEE Sensors Letters

The deadline for submissions is as follows:

  • September 21, 2023: Sensors Letters Submission Deadline (Option B)
  • October 3, 2023: Abstract Submission Deadline (Option A)

In either case, we expect to make the final decisions on all papers submitted by the regular submission through either option, by November 30, 2023. Please note that authors may not submit the same abstract to BOTH the INERTIAL Conference site and to IEEE Sensors Letters, as this will violate the IEEE’s self-plagiarism clause and the authors will likely be subjected to serious consequences. Below are details of either option to aid the decision and plan appropriate action.

OPTION A: Publication in the Proceedings of IEEE INERTIAL

  • Email submissions will NOT be accepted.
  • If you are making multiple submissions, you only need to create one web account. Use the same account (User name & Password) for any additional submissions.
  • If you need to resubmit your abstract, it may be done up until the submission deadline.
  • Author information may not be changed after the initial abstract submission paper passes
  • The submission will be reviewed by the conference Technical Program Committee and decisions made through the regular conference peer review process.

Abstract Specifications:

MANDATORY: USE IEEE PDF EXPRESS to ensure your PDF is Xplore compliant. Use our templates to meet formatting requirements below. Your abstract must comply with the following specifications:

  • PDF file MUST be IEEE Xplore compliant
  • Abstract Length: 1-page abstract (plus 1 page of figures)
  • Paper Size: US Letter (8.5" x 11")
  • Fonts: Embed ALL fonts in your PDF file. No Type 3 fonts allowed.
  • File Format: Adobe PDF (.pdf)
  • Allowed File Size: 10 MB
  • Do NOT page number your paper
  • Do NOT apply security settings to your PDF file.

Note: Deviations from the above abstract specifications could result in the removal of your accepted paper from the proceedings.

OPTION B: Publication in IEEE Sensors Letters:

Authors whose papers are focused specifically in the area of sensors may consider submitting such work directly to IEEE Sensors Letters journal. When submitting such papers, please use the following link and use the following template of IEEE Sensors Letters journal. During the submission, please choose “IEEE INERTIAL” as the article type from the dropdown list. This will allow us to rapidly identify these special papers and quickly activate the regular peer review process for IEEE Sensors Letters so that it will be completed in time for the decisions on the final program. Papers that are submitted to IEEE Sensors Letters, but not selecting this option, will not be considered for the IEEE INERTIAL and will likely be reviewed and published (if accepted) through the normal journal review process.

If authors opt for OPTION B, and their paper is rejected by IEEE Sensors Letters, they will be able to submit the abstract to IEEE INERTIAL as a late submission. The deadline for late submissions will be set to a date after the initial program decision deadline. This will still allow such papers to be included in the IEEE INERTIAL conference program (as is the case for OPTION A), if the quality of the work is reviewed to be acceptable by the conference technical program committee.

Note: Conference organizers and the journal editorial board are not responsible for author oversight.

For Further Assistance:

  • In order to help you meet the above paper specifications, please use the templates which can be found on the Templates page.
  • If you are having problems creating your file, please link to the author help page.

Note: If your paper does not meet IEEE Xplore requirements (as outlined in the Paper Specifications section), it cannot be included in the Proceedings.

Additional Requirements:

If your paper is accepted for publication at this conference, you will also need to adhere to the following requirements:

  • IEEE policy requires you to file a copyright release for each accepted submission. Without a copyright release on file, your paper CANNOT be published.
  • REMINDER: At least one author per accepted paper must be registered AND attend the conference to present their paper.
  • IEEE reserves the right to exclude any accepted paper from distribution after the conference (including, removal from IEEE Xplore) if the accepted paper is not presented at the conference.
